In order to understand kite dynamics you have to know the wind window. Knowing it well will help you get up and riding more quickly, and help you understand where your kite should be relative to your body position.
As a general explanation of the wind window, if the rider were standing with their back to the wind, the kite can fly in the window that is downwind in a quarter sphere. If you reach your arms out in front off you out to the sides and up above your head, that entire area is the wind window. Inside the wind window their are power bands concentrically configured like the layers of an onion At the edges of the window is where the kite generates the least amount of power. The center of the wind window directly downwind is where the kite will generate the most amount of power. The power bands gain power as you move toward the center. Do not forget another variable, the faster the kite moves the more power it generates. Words need to be formed into muscle memory with a trainer kite.
